Qualified Investor Visa: how to obtain residency in Panama

The investor visa allows obtaining permanent residency with a real estate investment from $300,000 USD. We explain the requirements, the process, and the included tax benefits.

Panama's Qualified Investor Visa is one of the most attractive immigration routes in Latin America for citizens of any country. With a minimum real estate investment of $300,000 USD, it is possible to obtain permanent residency within 3 to 6 months.

Documentary requirements include: valid passport, apostilled criminal background certificate, purchase agreement or property title, and banking documentation demonstrating the lawful origin of funds. A local immigration attorney manages the process with the National Immigration Service.

One of the most important advantages is Panama's territorial tax regime. Foreign residents do not pay income tax on income generated outside the country. This means your foreign-source income (businesses, dividends, pensions) is not subject to taxes in Panama.

Permanent residency also includes a work permit, allowing holders to engage in economic activities in the country. Dependents (spouse and minor children) can be included in the same application without additional investment requirements.

At Altior Realty we coordinate the real estate side comprehensively: identifying the qualifying property, negotiation, due diligence, and coordination with the immigration attorney. An end-to-end accompanied process.
